June Drug Tariff News

Additions to Part 2

There has been zero additions to Part 2 in the June Drug Tariff

Generally, items which fall into Part 2 of the Drug Tariff have no Wholesaler discount, you are potentially dispensing at a loss. You may consider sending the prescription away to a local Pharmacy to be dispensed.

Additions to Part 8a

4 items have been added to Part 8a of the June Drug Tariff.  Ones which I think you will find of interest are:

  • Dienogest 2mg tablets has been added, pack size of 84 – the 28 pack was already listed in the Drug Tariff.
  • Phenoxymethylpenicillin 500mg tablets has been added to the June Drug Tariff as a pack size of 20. Currently only Alliance and PSUK appear to be stocking it. Please purchase with care as some prices are higher than Drug Tariff.
  • Fludrocortisone 50microgram tablets has been added to the June Drug Tariff as a Category C item. The 100mcg tablets have been listed for a while now.

Deletions to Part 8a

25 items have been deleted from the June Drug Tariff, ones which I think you may find of interest are:

  • Activated charcoal 81.3% granules for gastroenteral or oral suspension sugar free, more commonly known as Carbomix has been removed from the June Drug Tariff however this is still available to purchase.
  • Buprenorphine 16mg / Naloxone 4mg sublingual tablets sugar free – more commonly known as Suboxone. This product was discontinued in May 2025.
  • Strontium ranelate 2g granules for oral suspension sachets sugar free has also been removed from the June Drug Tariff – this product was discontinued in February 2024.

As a reminder Items which have been removed from the Drug Tariff part 8A can still be prescribed and dispensed but you will need to endorse the prescription with manufacturer, pack size and price paid.
