Additions to Part 2
Only 1 item has been added to Part 2 of the December Drug Tariff, and this one item is:
Generally, items which fall into Part 2 of the Drug Tariff have no Wholesaler discount, you are potentially dispensing at a loss. You may consider sending the prescription away to a local Pharmacy to be dispensed.
Additions to Part 8a
5 items have been added to Part 8a of the December Drug Tariff, ones which I think you will find of interest are:
- Clascoterone 10mg/g cream, 60g has gone into the December Drug Tariff as a Category C with the reimbursement based on Winlevi. This product appears to be available through all 3 mainline wholesalers.
- Estradiol 75micrograms/24hours transdermal patches – pack size 4 has gone into the December Drug Tariff. Pack of 8 and 24 are already listed in the Drug Tariff.
- Rizatriptan oro-dispersible s/f tablets have gone into the Drug Tariff with pack sizes of 6 + 12. Both pack sizes as a Category C with the reimbursement price based on Macleods Pharma UK Ltd.
Additions to Part 16
List of Contraceptive Drugs to be Dispensed Free of Charge:

SyreniRing
Ulipristal 30mg tablets
Please note – SyreniRing is showing as Discontinued on DMD and currently not available through any of the mainline wholesalers
Deletions to Part 8a
13 Items have been deleted from the December Drug Tariff, ones which I think you may find of interest are:
- Memantine 5mg/10mg/15mg/ 20mg oro-dispersible tablets initiation pack sugar free, more commonly known as Valios has been removed from the December Drug Tariff. This product was discontinued in June 2025.
- Morphine 200mg modified-release tablets, more commonly known as MST Continus has been removed from the December Drug Tariff. This product was discontinued in July 2025.
- Triamcinolone acetonide 40mg/ 1ml suspension for injection vials, more commonly known as Kenalog has been removed from the December Drug Tariff. This product was discontinued in July 25.
As a reminder Items which have been removed from the Drug Tariff part 8A can still be prescribed and dispensed but you will need to endorse the prescription with manufacturer, pack size and price paid.
Deletions to Part 16
List of Contraceptive Drugs to be Dispensed Free of Charge:
A number of lines have been removed from Part 16- see below:
- Akizza 75microgram/30microgram tablets
- Feanolla
- Femodene ED
- Gygel 2% contraceptive jelly
- Katya
- Mestranol 50microgram / Norethisterone 1mg tablets
- Moonia 75microgram tablets
- Nonoxinol-9 2% gel
- Norinyl-1
- Sunya
- Yiznell 0.03mg/3mg tablets
The majority of the above products have been discontinued.
These products will no longer be automatically classed as Contraception.
Other Changes to Part 8a
22 items are listed in ‘Other changes’, ones which I think you may find of interest are:
- Degarelix 80mg powder and solvent for solution for injection vials has remained as a Category C but the reimbursement price is now based on Ferring Pharmaceuticals Ltd and not on Firmagon as it was previously. The reimbursement price has dropped by approximately £10.00.
- Fentanyl 12/25/50/75 + 100micrograms/hour transdermal patches have remained as a Category C but the reimbursement price is now based on Mezolar Matrix – the reimbursement of all strengths has dropped significantly.
- Methylphenidate 18/27/36mg modified release tablets have remained as a Category C but Prescription services have removed Concerta XL as the brand which the price is taken from – this is one to watch!
