FAQ
Hi Amanda, I hope you are well. We have had a patient prescribed Hydrocortisone 0.5% cream but it is £76 per 15gram tube. I can’t find it in the part 8A Drug tariff so I am not sure how to find out what we would get back for it. Are you able to advise please? HI there, I am very well thanks – hope all is good with you? The 0.5% cream is what you would call a ‘non-part 8 product’ basically there is no listing in the Drug Tariff for it. When you dispense it, you would need to endorse the pack size, price paid and manufacturer in the left-hand column and they will reimburse you £76.00 – however you will get clawback on this so you will probably make a loss. My suggestion (and I am not a prescriber) would be to prescribe the 0.5% ointment which is in the Drug tariff – has a higher reimbursement price – £96.76 but Alliance are selling it for £61.61 – hence nice margin. Good afternoon Amanda I hope you are well? I was wondering if you could help me please? I have taken a look at the premium priced generics on Epact and I am a bit confused by one of the items. The Oxybutynin is showing as current spend £55.08 but potential spend £92.16. I have gone back through the January Drug tariff and price is £46.08 which is why I endorsed it. I have also checked all of Januarys concessions and Oxybutynin 10mg MR tablets are not on there. Can you explain it to me please so I don’t make the same mistake again? Many thanks Hi there, So Drug Tariff in January is £46.08 for 28 so looks like prescription was for 56 which would calculate at £92.16 It looks like it was amended with Aspire who have an indicative price of only £27.54 (for 28) hence why the reimbursement price is only £55.08. So Aspire has a lower indicative price than tariff. Hi Amanda, We have a query about Vagifem/Estridiol. Can we just confirm about cheapest and if it has Special Container rules? Hi The Estradiol pessary does have special container rules – best option is not to split the pack (if possible) Reimbursement price currently is £10.82. Shortline wholesalers are currently the cheapest at £10.29 – which isn’t cheap enough when you consider clawback. But Shortline currently seems to be the best option. Hope that all makes sense?
